Yesterday over at Kelly’s Korner she had another Show Us Your Life post. So I thought I would do the same thing here. It was all about those extra rooms in your house. The ones that are not main areas like your living room or kitchen. For me, those rooms include my loft, laundry and basement.
These pictures were all taken when we first moved in in 2008. I have done some more decorating of the walls now, so I should really update my photos. Let me add that to my “to do” list.
I love the sitting area in our kitchen. When we designed our home, I really wanted a big comfy gathering area in my kitchen, since when we host, that is mostly where everyone gathers, around the food! This area in my kitchen just gives us that extra space to spread out in the kitchen.
On the second floor is the loft area. I absolutely think this chaise is uber-cool. The black raised pattern on the chaise is velvet and the chair just conforms to your body once you sit in it. A great place to cozy up with a good book or magazine and relax. I even stashed a blanket in the neighboring laundry room cabinet so that I’d have it up there when I lounge here.
The laundry room is kind of retro. I say that because the countertop has a boomerang pattern on it in shades of grey. And I know that was popular way back when. Then I added white cabinets and grey tile flooring to go along with my red washer and dryer. Those cabinets hardly have anything in them though.
The “man cave” is somewhere I don’t frequent alone. I don’t even know how to turn on the projector tv (though I’ve been showed many several times). I did go down there once when we had a bad storm with my cell phone and laptop in hand and sat at the poker table while the storm passed. My husband enjoys watching tv in the soft and cold leather recliners in front of the massive screen though. And I guess I do too, when I have a big ole blanket and him to keep me company. Our gym is also down in the basement, so I do pass thru the theatre to get to it.
I hope you’ve enjoyed your tour of my “extra” rooms in the house. This has concluded the tour. Goodbye now.
omg your rooms are awesome!!! Love the bold colors!
Thank you! I believe that paint on the walls can totally change the look of a room, and for not that much $. I am definitely not afraid of color!
Love your basement! So gorgeous and chic=)
Thanks! In a future post I will share all the pictures of my basement. Believe me, I have tons more to share with ya! Stay tuned!
